Dunedin

This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of Dunedin city. You may wish to take an optional tour to Otago Peninsula this afternoon to visit Larnach Castle, or the resident penguin or albatross colonies. Spend your morning sightseeing in Dunedin’s city center, including highlights of the Octagon, followed by an optional visit to Larnach Castle. In the afternoon, immerse in the natural beauty of the Otago Peninsula and the scenic coast along Taiaroa Head. Peer at rare yellow-eyed penguins and visit nesting grounds of the northern royal albatross. Optional tours not included. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Dunedin – Te Anau

This morning, after breakfast the day is free for optional activities before departing Dunedin to cross the Southland Plains through the towns of Balclutha and Gore to Te Anau. This evening enjoy a glowworm caves tour. Deep inside the caves, beyond the roar of the water, you will be taken by small boat into a silent hidden grotto inhabited by thousands of glowworms, unique to New Zealand. In the subterranean darkness, they produce a glittering display that is nothing short of extraordinary. Te Anau – Milford Sound – Queenstown

After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing. Enter the Eglinton Valley and travel through the breath taking man made Homer Tunnel to reach Milford Sound. Enjoy a cruise on this world famous fiord, dominated by Mitre Peak and the cascading Bowen Falls. Departing from Milford Wharf, this boat cruise glides past snow-capped Mitre Peak and waterfalls cascading down steep-walled mountains that rise straight up from the water. Wanaka – Glacier Region

After breakfast, travel through the historic Haast Pass, gateway to the World Heritage Westland National Park. Punakaiki – Nelson

After breakfast, time at leisure to explore the West Coast before travelling through the rugged Buller Gorge and popular Nelson lakes district to arrive in Nelson. The tour to Punakaiki includes a guided bush walk in the Paparoa National Park, a chance to explore the sub-tropical rainforest, take in views of the towering cliffs of limestone gorges, visit Pancake Rocks and the Blowholes, and enjoying time to ramble on a wild beach. The Punakaiki Pancake Rocks are sculptural rock formations and blowholes that shoot jets of ocean water up in the air. Stop for photo ops and a leisurely walk. Transfer to Nelson. Nelson

After breakfast, day free at leisure to relax and enjoy Nelson. You might like to visit the Abel Tasman National Park or take a local guided walking tour. Discover Abel Tasman National Park's golden beaches and turquoise waters. Travel to Kaiteriteri Beach, where you board a boat that takes you into the heart of the park to pristine coastline and thick forests. You have the option to either remain on board the boat and cruise through the park, or disembark to take a walk on well-marked trails and sandy beaches. Nelson – Blenheim

After breakfast, check out from hotel and travel from Nelson to Blenheim this morning. This afternoon enjoy a half day winery tour with tastings included. Enjoy a relaxing day out around some of the beautiful wineries in Marlborough. Learn about the regions great wines and join in on some sampling. Throughout the day you will taste some superb Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Pinot Noir as well as some lesser known varieties from the area. You can taste some locally produced olive oils too, and conclude the tour at Boutique Chocolate Factory. Overnight stay at Blenheim.

Blenheim – Kaikoura

Continue south to Kaikoura this morning. The afternoon is at leisure – optional activities include scenic flights, walking tours and swimming with the dolphins. Kaikoura has one of the largest number of different types of seabirds within a small area than anywhere along the New Zealand coastlines. Within close proximity of the beautiful Kaikoura Peninsula, see a considerable array of albatross, petrels, shearwaters, terns, shags and gulls. Kaikoura is world renowned for the variety of birds and marine mammals which can be seen, not least of all the giant sperm whales and the acrobatic Dusky Dolphins. Kaikoura - Christchurch

Morning is at leisure for you to enjoy Kaikoura whale watching or swim with the Dolphins. It is a delight for all those who wish to get close to nature. There is also the opportunity to visit a seal colony where fur seals may be viewed at close quarters.  Those in need of even more of a thrill can take a 4 wheel quad bike through spectacular hill country, native bush, river beds and streams. Optional cost NOT Included in the package cost. Later leave Kaikoura behind as you turn inland and travel through North Canterbury to reach the ‘Garden City’ of Christchurch.
